Hailing from the Bay Area, the partners started their careers at some of the region’s largest brokerage companies including Cushman & Wakefield, Newmark, Colliers and CBRE. Over the last ten years, they formerly ran the brokerage platform for another boutique commercial real estate company in Northern California called Preserve West Capital.

Putnam is the founder and Managing Partner at Fisher James Capital. He represents private and institutional capital clients on the disposition and acquisition of leased investment properties, as well as the funding of newly constructed development opportunities throughout the country. With a focus on newly constructed retail, industrial, and medical opportunities, he has completed $12 billion in transactions totaling more than 16 million square feet.

Putnam began his career at what is now Cushman & Wakefield in Northern California before moving to Newmark leading an investment division in the western states. After nearly two decades of partnership at those firms and most recently leading Preserve West Capital, Putnam launched Fisher James Capital in the spring of 2023. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with degrees in History and Political Science. Putnam lives in San Francisco with his wife and two sons. When he is not coaching his sons in various sports, he is an avid golfer, pickleball competitor, and outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, fishing, and boating.
