Joel Scannell

Joel Scannell is a managing director at the Alexandria, Virginia, office of Scannell Properties and has been with the company for more than two decades. Joel currently oversees the company’s mid-Atlantic development efforts. In this role, he guides his team’s decisions in market and site evaluation, deal negotiation and underwriting. He also holds ultimate responsibility for due diligence, design and project delivery. Prior to joining Scannell Properties, Joel worked for three Chicago-based commercial real estate firms, including NorthMarq Capital, where he worked in the debt and equity intermediary industry. Prior to NorthMarq, he contributed to underwriting efforts in the acquisitions group at Equity Office. Joel began his commercial real estate career evaluating the acquisition and development of health care real estate assets for a specialist group at LaSalle Partners. He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Northwestern University and his Master of Business Administration at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
