Bio

Greg Geertsen has been with Merlone Geier since 2007. His primary responsibility is to serve as a senior project partner, with a particular focus on project development, entitlement processing and leasing in Northern California. Before joining Merlone Geier, Mr. Geertsen was the managing partner of Western Development Partners, a full service development firm specializing in retail development and redevelopment in twelve western states. Prior to forming Western Development Partners, Mr. Geertsen served as Vice President of Real Estate for Grocery Outlet, a regional discount grocery chain, from 1990 to 2001. During his tenure at Grocery Outlet, Mr. Geertsen oversaw its expansion from 30 to 120 locations, including the development of over 20 projects throughout nine western states. From 1982 to 1989, Mr. Geertsen served as a development director for two privately held real estate companies, where his responsibilities included new project development, leasing and retail property management in five western states. Mr. Geertsen graduated from Brigham Young University in 1982 with an undergraduate degree in business finance. He is an active participant in the International Council of Shopping Centers, where he earned the Senior Certified Shopping Center Manager designation, and is a licensed real estate broker. He is resident in the firm’s San Francisco office.
