Responsible for all aspects of operations for Genton Cockrum, including acquisitions, development, financing, asset management, and sales and marketing. Prior to forming Genton Cockrum, Mr. Cockrum was Managing Partner, Chief Investment Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the predecessor entity, Genton Property Group starting in 2009. Mr. Cockrum also has a part-time consulting role with Lowe, a national real estate development and investment company, primarily advising on aspects of the firm’s capital raising and investment activities. Prior to Genton Property Group, Mr. Cockrum was Chief Investment Officer and Chief Financial Officer of LandCap Partners, a national residential land investment business sponsored by Goldman Sachs’ Whitehall Funds and NorthStar Realty Finance Corp. with a $350 million commitment. Previously, Mr. Cockrum held senior positions with Barrow Street Capital, where he was President and member of the Investment Committee responsible for the west coast office/investments and fundraising. His acquisition and asset management experience included 19 investments totaling $1.5 billion (included Miramar Hotel Santa Barbara/Rosewood & Excelsior Residences at the Americana at Brand). Mr. Cockrum also worked at Merrill Lynch for over ten years in Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo, holding senior positions including Director and Head of the West Coast Real Estate Investment Banking Group. His completed transaction experience includes 55 financings and advisory assignments totaling $11.6 billion. He began his career as a commercial real estate broker with Grubb & Ellis in Los Angeles.
