Bio

Wiley Prothero serves as a director with Newmark's Multifamily Capital Markets Debt & Structured Finance group in Atlanta. He brings to his position more than 35 years of experience, chiefly in commercial and multifamily real estate lending. Mr. Prothero originates agency, CMBS and FHA-insured loan products within most major southeastern markets, including Atlanta, Miami, Charlotte and Washington, DC, as well as Texas and Louisiana.

 

Previously, Mr. Prothero was with Oppenheimer Multifamily Housing and Healthcare Finance, where he focused on HUD production. His team was acquired by Newmark's predecessor firm.

 

From 2011 to 2014, Mr. Prothero worked in multifamily acquisitions at a Florida-based affordable housing owner. During his tenure there, he evaluated and helped negotiate the acquisition of nearly 1,000 LIHTC units located in Georgia and North Carolina and helped arrange permanent FHA financing (223f) for properties in the company's existing portfolio in Florida and Tennessee.

 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Prothero was with CW Capital (now Walker & Dunlop), where he originated FHA and FNMA multifamily loans. His production volume was approximately $200 million. Prior to that, he worked at JP Morgan, where he focused on CMBS origination. He also worked in commercial banking with Citibank, Bank of America and KeyCorp; his bank construction lending totaled approximately another $300 million.

 

Education

Mr. Prothero earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami. He previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Florida and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
