Tom Walsh serves Abbell Associates as Partner, SVP Leasing, and Managing Broker, overseeing all internal and third-party retail leasing activity. Tom is a highly accomplished leasing veteran, with extensive industry relationships, and far reaching experience developing and executing leasing plans for open air, lifestyle, urban, mall, and mixed-use properties throughout the country, including re-development and ground up developments. Tom has worked with a broad spectrum of national tenants, such as retail anchors: Target, Ross, TJX, Zara, Petco, PetSmart, Fresh Thyme Market, Bob’s Furniture, Ashley Homestore, Burlington, Five Below, Old Navy, Michael’s, DSW, among others. Specialty retail activity includes Ann Taylor, Eileen Fisher, Disney, LBrands, Hot Topic, Gap, Skechers, Puma flagship, Sola, Steve Madden and many more. Restaurant and entertainment work includes brands such as Flix Brewhouse, Starbuck’s, Jamba Juice, Flat Top Grill, Max & Erma’s, Long Horn Steakhouse, California Pizza Kitchen, Putting Edge and Laser Quest to name a few. Tom also has deep experience working with emerging local brands in the retail and hospitality secctor. Prior to joining Abbell, Tom spent 20 years with Joseph Freed and Associates, coordinating the Leasing activities of a portfolio that grew to 6 million square feet, including both ground up projects, existing property re-developments and urban re-developments such as the historic Sullivan Center re-development on State St, with City Target and DSW. Prior to joining Freed, Tom leased properties for developers Bronson & Hutensy in Hartford, CT, and Zaremba Midwest in Chicago, and started his real estate career at commercial brokerage firm Sheldon Good & Company in Chicago. Tom is a graduate of Drake University, holds the Certified Leasing Specialist (CLS) and the Certified Retail Property Executive (CRX) designation from the International Conference of Shopping Centers, and is the Managing Broker for Abbell Associates, LLC.
