Bio
Tom Brenneke joined Guardian in 1984 and became the company president in 1998. He purchased the company in 2002 and set forth a strategic plan to diversify the property management service business into a vertically-integrated management, development, and investment company. Tom has directed major company growth initiatives that have resulted in 90 acquisition/development transactions, translating to an ownership track-record of 9,500 multifamily units in four states. Guardian’s current development and acquisition pipeline consists of 930 multifamily units and 185,000 square feet of commercial space. Tom has also spearheaded the company’s growth and evolution in the government-assisted housing sector where Guardian is distinguished as one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest private affordable housing developers. Tom serves as the Board President of the non-profit lobbying organization, More Housing Now!, advocating for supply-oriented solutions to housing affordability challenges. He is a current member of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) and serves on its Workforce Housing committee. Tom is a founding Board member of De La Salle North Catholic High School and is a big supporter of the school’s Corporate Internship Program, giving young adults a unique introduction to the business world. He also serves as a board member for St. Mary’s Academy, an all-girls Catholic high school located in downtown Portland. Tom earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Portland and is a Certified Property Manager®, Oregon Principal Broker, and Washington Designated Broker.
