Steven Hinds

With more than twenty years of industry experience, Steve Hinds, Senior Director is responsible for nationwide loan origination and will be based out of Walker & Dunlop’s San Francisco, California office.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hinds has been involved in placing more than $1 billion in commercial real estate loans. Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Hinds served as principal at George Elkins Mortgage Banking Company, where he began working for his grandfather, the company’s founder, in 1985. During his stewardship at Elkins, the company closed more than $1 billion of commercial real estate loans with a variety of lenders including correspondent life insurance companies, banks, private individuals, and Wall Street conduits.

Mr. Hinds graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. Beyond the Company, Mr. Hinds serves on the board of directors of a real estate corporation, and is an active member in several professional associations including California Mortgage Association, Mortgage Banking Association, International Conference of Shopping Centers, and National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. In addition, Mr. Hinds is also the co-founder of Los Angeles Mortgage Association, an association of lenders and mortgage bankers that focuses on the Southern California commercial real estate lending market.
