Steve Wendel is the FHA Head of Production and Managing Director of CBRE HMF, Inc., CBRE's FHA multifamily and healthcare lending program.
Mr. Wendel is an accomplished commercial real estate investment professional with nearly three decades of experience managing multifamily debt platforms in the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Agency and CMBS markets. He plays a key role in the expansion of CBRE's FHA Lending platform for multifamily and seniors housing loans. He works with FHA originators and the broader range of Multifamily debt producers to originate FHA loans.
Mr. Wendel joined CBRE in 2014. He previously worked at Berkeley Point Capital, where he was Executive Managing Director, and led the FHA, Seniors and Student Housing programs. Additionally, he previously served as Managing Director, Co-Head, at Deutsche Bank Berkshire Mortgage, as Managing Director, Head of Commercial Real Estate, at ContiFinancial Corporation and as Senior Vice President of Related Capital Corporation.
Mr. Wendel has provided real estate capital to clients utilizing a wide range of multifamily and healthcare finance programs, including HUD FHA mortgage insurance, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac permanent loans, tax exempt mortgage revenue bonds, CMBS loans, low-income housing and historic tax credits and bridge loans. Over the past two decades, he has managed over $3 billion of FHA production, including numerous new construction, affordable and healthcare property loans.
