Bio

J. Stephen Quinn founded AMERICAN PROPERTY ENTERPRISES in San Diego in 1985. Prior to the formation of AMERICAN PROPERTY ENTERPRISES, he served as Senior Vice President for Burnham Real Estate Services where he managed the Capital Markets Division with offices in San Diego and Newport Beach, CA. Mr. Quinn has also held the position of Senior Real Estate Finance Officer for Coldwell Banker (now CB Richard Ellis). These positions entailed the origination of major loans and joint ventures for office, industrial, retail, apartment, and hotel properties in Southern California. Mr. Quinn is an Inactive Member of the State Bar Association of California and Texas. He is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in California and he holds Instructor Credentials in Real Estate Finance and Law from the California Community College System. He was an active member of the San Diego chapter of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America in the 1970’s and 1980’s and served as Chairman of the Income Property Committee of the California MBA in 1981. Mr. Quinn was on the Commercial/Industrial Council of the San Diego Building Industry Association (BIA) for many years, serving as President in 1997 and Director from 1993-1998. He also served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego BIA in 1997 and 1998 and was an Executive Committee Member in 1997. At present, Mr. Quinn is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), Urban Land Institute, and the San Diego Housing Federation, and serves on the Board of the La Jolla YMCA. Mr. Quinn was in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for many years, achieving the rank of Major. The Military Schools he attended include: Marine Officer Basic School, Quantico, VA (9th of 516 Officers, Honor Graduate); Air Traffic Control Officer Course, Glynco, GA (3rd of 5 Officers); HAWK Missile Systems, Ft. Bliss, TX (1st of 15 Officers, Distinguished Honor Graduate); and the Naval Justice School, Reserve Officers Course, Newport RI. Mr. Quinn competed as a member of the U.S. Team in the 1971 NATO Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR) Military Athletic Competition in Hanover, Germany, winning 1st place in the 500 Meters Obstacle Course Event and 4th place overall. His three years of active duty included overseas service in Vietnam and Okinawa. Mr. Quinn attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his B.A. and his J.D. from the School of Law. He paid a majority of his college expenses by working as lead singer and manager of a rock & roll band.
