Bio
Steve Heffner is an Executive Vice President for CBRE's Debt & Structured Finance Group in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Heffner is a multifamily specialist and has originated more than $4 billion of debt and equity transactions for his REIT, pension fund and developer clients. During his 25 year mortgage banking career, over 85% of transactions Mr. Heffner closed were exclusive assignments, of which the vast majority were with repeat customers.
Mr. Heffner has been Freddie Mac’s top producer in North Carolina and South Carolina since 2003, with well over $1 billion in closings and has served on the Freddie Mac Natural Production Advisory Board. From 2009 to 2013, Mr. Heffner was recognized as Colbert Coldwell Circle recipient (top 2% of all CBRE brokers in North America.)
Upon graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986, Mr. Heffner began his career in commercial real estate finance with 1st Home Federal where he ultimately served as manager of the Income Property Finance Division.
From 1989 until February 1998, Mr. Heffner was a Partner with Cauble and Company of Carolina, a commercial real estate mortgage banking and income property brokerage firm headquartered in Charlotte. CBRE acquired Cauble and Company in 1988.
