Bio
Scott Villani joined The NRP Group in 2013 and in 2020 was promoted to Principal and Chief Strategy Officer for the company with broad responsibly for all aspects of consumer marketing, corporate marketing, and human resources.
In his Marketing Strategy role, Villani leads all aspects of consumer targeting and related design elements of new property development including exterior design, amenities package composition, unit design and rent levels for both the affordable and market rate portfolios. He also directs all marketing strategy and tactics related to individual property media, advertising and promotional activity, and leads all internal and external corporate NRP marketing and communications.
In his Human Resources responsibilities, Mr. Villani is responsible for end-to-end leadership of the human resources function, including A+ talent acquisition, NRP learning and development, and all aspects of human resources strategy, policies and procedures for The NRP Group broadly and for each of our operating companies.
Villani also serves on the NRP Investment Committee comprised of NRP functional leaders charged with the detailed evaluation, due diligence and prioritization of deals to be advanced to the NRP Executive Committee.
During his previous role as SVP of Strategic Marketing for The NRP Group, Villani presided over product design, marketing and pricing for more than 60 highly successful lease-ups. He has helped deliver over $1.5 billion in asset dispositions on the market-rate side of the business while helping drive strong consistent positive returns within the affordable portfolio as well. The lease-up speed and rent growth achieved during his tenure have been consistently best-in-class for multifamily properties. During Villani’s tenure, The NRP Group has been named the 2020 NMHC #6 Top Multifamily Builder in the U.S. and #7 Top Multifamily Developer, and Affordable Housing Finance has named The NRP Group #4 Top Affordable Housing Developer and #12 Top Owner in the U.S. The NRP Group is a three-time recipient of the National Association of Builders Multifamily (NAHB) Pillars of the Industry award for national “Development Firm of the Year,” and has become the top multifamily developer in the U.S. that creates both affordable and market rate housing at national scale.
Prior to joining NRP, Villani served as Vice President of Business Development for RealPage, a provider of online property management software. Prior to that, he worked his way up at Forest City Enterprises from 2004–2011, staring as a Property Manager and finishing as Vice President of Marketing and Operations for the national residential portfolio. Prior to Forest City, Villani started his career with AvalonBay Communities.
Villani holds an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Dickinson College, where he graduated with honors. He also sits on the board of University Settlement, a 100-year-old social services organization located in Cleveland’s Slavic Village neighborhood. Villani resides with his wife and three children in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
