Mr. Sumaida has over 25 years of real estate development and construction management experience in New York City. Currently, Mr. Sumaida is developing over 314,000 sf of developments in Manhattan including 522 West 29th Street, a 115,000 sf luxury residential project, 152 Elizabeth Street, a 32,000 sf luxury residential project, and 611 West 56th Street, a 173,000 sf luxury residential project. Previously, Mr. Sumaida co-developed 157 Hudson Street, a 105,000 sf luxury residen-tial building in Tribeca, 520 West 27th Street, a 65,000 sf commercial condominium project in West Chelsea, and 145 6th Avenue, a 70,000 sf residential and commercial condominium conversion in Soho.
Combining an imaginative vision with a strong track record of executing highly-lauded development projects, Mr. Sumaida functions as a rare mix of development principal, construction manager, and trained architect. He is engaged in all aspects of the development process from conception to implementation.
Mr. Sumaida started Foundations Group, in 1993. The firm has become one of the most reputable non-union construction management firms in New York City. As a construction manager for both his own projects and other developers’, Mr. Sumaida has built over 1.5 million sf of luxury condominium developments, boutique hotels, office buildings, high-end residential interiors and significant retail properties in Manhattan.
His work has been written up in innumerable publications, including the New York Times and Harper’s Bazaar, and exhibited in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Museum of The City of New York, and the MoMA, among other museums and galleries.
Mr. Sumaida received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cooper Union.
