Bio
Ryan started his career in the energy space, trading electricity and coal futures & options before moving to New York to join AllianceBernstein’s equity trading desk. In 2007, Ryan joined EPR Properties, where he was responsible for the REIT’s new acquisitions, with a focus on properties in the education space. In this capacity, Bryan acquired over $700M of charter schools, private schools, and early education facilities and also worked on deals in the gaming and experiential entertainment sectors.
In 2015, Ryan founded Nauset Acquisitions Inc to provide underwriting and financial consulting services for ACRE Investments, Inc, a preferred developer for 24 Hour Fitness based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In 2016, Ryan formally partnered with ACRE and became responsible for identifying and developing long-term relationships and investment originations with high-performing operators, developers, institutional capital partners, and other influencers in the CRE community for ACRE.
Ryan has extensive experience with startup organizations in the education space and beyond, as well as unique expertise in investment valuation and portfolio management.
Ryan is very active in PropTech and FinTech, and serves as an advisor to EstateProtocol.com, a CRE blockchain startup.
Mr. Smith holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Finance from Northeastern University, Boston, MA, and a B.S. from Colgate University, Hamilton, NY.
Ryan lives in Orleans, MA (Cape Cod) with his wife and is active in community projects and white shark
research.
