Bio
Roy Lapidus founded Stonetown in August 2010 as a new vehicle to invest in opportunistic, high-yielding real estate investments. Prior to Stonetown, Roy spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs in the Real Estate Principal Investment Area of its Merchant Bank, most recently as a Managing Director responsible for acquisitions in the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America.
Beginning in the RTC era, Roy has invested in distressed notes and assets, cash flowing assets, value add strategies and development transactions. He is experienced in all parts of the real estate capital structure, having invested in common equity, mezzanine and preferred equity. He is similarly experienced in many property types, including manufactured housing, hospitality, multi-family, office, industrial, retail, land, residential and medical office properties.
Roy earned an AB in American History from Princeton and an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Roy lives in Greenwood Village, CO with his wife and kids.
