Bio

Michael Tate is Director of Predevelopment for Rockefeller Group, a group created in 2020 within the company’s Design & Construction team. In this role, Mr. Tate is focused on supporting the sourcing and startup of new projects and serving as a resource for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, as well as Core Holdings. Areas of responsibility for Predevelopment under Mr. Tate’s direction include development of a project’s proforma and design brief, estimating and cost management, design documentation, and procurement processes for the design and contracting teams. Most recently, he served in the Mid-Atlantic regional office in Washington, D.C., during which time he successfully closed out the construction contract for Boro Tower in Tysons, Va., and had been directing design and construction-supervision priorities for 1901 L Street. Mr. Tate joined Rockefeller Group in 2011 in the New Jersey/PA regional office. As Assistant Project Manager, Design & Construction, he worked on the development of several prominent projects for the company including BASF’s 325,000 square foot North American headquarters in Florham Park, as well as Goya Food’s 635,000 square foot distribution center in Jersey City, N.J. Prior to his responsibilities in the Mid-Atlantic, he was part of the team that led the redevelopment of 1271 Avenue of the Americas. He holds a master’s degree in real estate with a concentration in finance and investment from New York University. He also holds dual bachelor’s degrees in finance and business management from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa.
