Bio
Michael Liefer, Managing Director, originates market rate and affordable housing loans through agency, life company, bank, debt fund, and HUD executions. Throughout his career, Mr. Liefer has structured over $1 billion of permanent, construction, bridge, preferred equity, and mezzanine capital.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop in 2011, Mr. Liefer was vice president of acquisitions for Banner Apartments, a real estate investment firm in Northbrook, Illinois. During his tenure, Mr. Liefer was responsible for the sourcing, underwriting, and financing of multifamily properties nationwide. He also specialized in affordable housing and the acquisition of HUD Section 8 and LIHTC properties. Mr. Liefer began his career as a Series 7/63 licensed equity broker at FBR Capital Markets & Co., an Arlington, Virginia investment bank.
Mr. Liefer graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in marketing and supply chain management.
