Bio

Matthew Downs is President of Elevation Commercial Development. In his role, he is responsible for the redevelopment of assets which require substantial reconstruction or conversion from current usage to enable the company to expand into new product lines and new markets. Matthew works closely with the Elevation investments team during the underwriting and due diligence process to develop a comprehensive plan, budget and deliberate approach. Matthew’s team also oversees ongoing, value-add capital improvements projects within Elevation’s portfolio.

 

In addition, Elevation Commercial Development seeks unique acquisition and new construction income producing asset opportunities within various commercial real estate segments. Matthew is a key contributor to the company’s ongoing strategic planning and growth initiatives.

 

Matthew joined Elevation in 2019 with over 15 years of experience as an executive and principal at Liberty Investment Properties, a privately held real estate investment, development and management firm. During his tenure at Liberty, he oversaw the development of more than 30 hotels and storage facilities across the United States. Matthew also had operational oversight of over 3,600 hotel units across nine states in 16 distinct markets.

 

Matthew received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Samford University School of Business. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) as well as the National Investment Center for Senior Housing and Care (NIC). Matthew currently resides in Winter Park, Florida, with his wife Ashley and their four children Avery, Barrett, Maddox, and Hunter.
