Bio

Matt Thorp is a production analyst with CBRE’s Debt and Structured Finance Group. He joins us with 13 years of institutional real estate investment and operations experience, spanning all major property types. From capital markets to investment consulting, multifamily acquisitions and asset management, to financial operations, Mr. Thorp’s experience and growth have yielded a well- rounded, big-picture view of the commercial real estate industry, adding value overall to the debt placement team.

 

Immediately prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Thorp worked as a Financial Planning and Analysis Associate with Blue Harbor Senior Living. In this role, he provided guidance support and operational analysis on all financial metrics for a 25 community portfolio across 13 states. He also spearheaded an initiative to convert the company’s existing Enterprise Resource Planning database to a new software protocol, saving significant time and money on the backend. Prior to this, Mr. Thorp spent time as an Acquisitions & Investment Management Analyst for Holland Partners, underwriting $1.5 billion in institutional-quality multifamily investments and completing five acquisitions valued at approximately $166 million across the Portland, Seattle, Denver and Phoenix Market Areas. Mr. Thorp also spent time as a Research Consultant and Equity Research Analyst for a number of firms, including Colliers International, Taylor-Dunn Manufacturing, Pension Consulting Alliance, Stifel Nicolaus and Cantor Fitzgerald & Co.

 

Mr. Thorp holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Oregon State University and has completed his Masters coursework in Finance from the University of Colorado in Denver. He is an active board member of the local Columbia River Chapter of Gift of Adoption, a non-profit fund that offers adoption assistance grants to allow children to thrive in a loving and caring environment. Mr. Thorp’s background in consulting and institutional real estate investments, combined with his educational background and volunteer experience offer a broad, diverse base skills to draw from as he works to serve the needs of his clients.
