Matt McQueen

Matt McQueen is Executive Vice President – General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Welltower Inc. In this role, he serves as the chief legal adviser for Welltower and also oversees enterprise risk management and internal audit. He plays an instrumental role supporting all of the company’s transactions, debt and equity offerings, Board of Directors and governance matters.

Mr. McQueen joined Welltower in April 2015 from Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago, where he served as a partner in their Corporate & Securities group. In his 11 years at Sidley, he led a substantial practice in mergers and acquisitions, working on domestic and global transactions for public and private companies, as well as public and private securities offerings, joint ventures and corporate governance matters. While at Sidley, Mr. McQueen represented Welltower in several transactions, including the company’s acquisition of Genesis HealthCare, Sunrise Senior Living, HealthLease and several joint ventures including Revera and Senior Resource Group.

Mr. McQueen earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan as magna cum laude and was a note editor on the Michigan Journal of International Law. Matt holds a B.A. in English and History from Indiana University graduating as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and with departmental honors and earning a Wells Scholarship.
