Matt Comfort

Mr. Comfort is responsible for all capital market activities and acquisitions, playing an instrumental role in equity and debt fundraising for JMI’s recent acquisition and development deals, as well as the refinancing of many of JMI’s existing properties. Prior to JMI, Mr. Comfort was a founding partner of Bullwhip Capital Partners an investment platform focused on the independent and boutique hotel space. Bullwhip’s investments include the iconic El Rey and La Fonda hotels in Santa Fe, NM. Before forming Bullwhip, Mr. Comfort ran the Hospitality Capital Markets group for Jones Lang LaSalle. In the last two years under his direction, his team executed on over $5.0 billion of transaction and advisory services, including financings, recapitalizations, note sales, and workout advisory/analytic services. Mr. Comfort previously worked at AvalonBay Communities in New York where he focused on acquisitions, and at Westrum Development in Philadelphia where he worked with the acquisitions, development and property management teams. Mr. Comfort worked at Mitchell/Giurgola Architects before leaving to lead the award-winning design of the Gishen Maryam Ethiopian Orthodox church and community center in Denver.
