Bio
Mark Deschenes has a diverse background in all phases of real estate development with more than 25 years of experience in engineering, design, construction, contracts, and financing. Mark began working with Boylston Properties in 1998-2001 and returned as a Principal in 2006, overseeing all development and project management. In addition to Boylston Properties, Mark has worked as a structural engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, for Fay Spofford and Thorndike, and as a project manager for Shawmut Design and Construction. Mark also held upper management positions with Abbott Development and Sea-Dar Construction. With nearly $1B worth of development and construction experience, Mark’s resume includes development of most commercial asset types comprising multifamily residential, both rental and condominiums, retail, office, lab/R&D and hotels. Most of these projects have been developed in complex urban environments in the Greater Boston market. Mark has been instrumental in all of Boylston Properties’ construction projects, beginning with the permitting and construction of Cambridgeport Bank’s headquarters in Brighton in 1999 to the recent completion of two Residence Inn by Marriott Hotels and the conversion of a 185,000SF warehouse in Watertown to a Gold LEED certified, state of the art lab building. Mark is a licensed structural engineer with an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and an MBA from Babson College.
