Bio

Marc joined Ackman-Ziff in 2017 through the acquisition of his company RM Capital Management. Marc’s background includes extensive experience as both a principal and advisor in the real estate and financial services sectors. He also has corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, leveraged finance and real estate finance experience with both investment banks and public corporations. Prior to joining Ackman-Ziff, Marc co-founded RM Capital Management, a boutique real estate investment banking firm where he was responsible for all aspects of the firm including debt & equity capital advisory, recapitalizations and restructurings on behalf of public companies, private equity funds and entrepreneurial owners and operators.

 

While at RM Capital, Marc was responsible for over $1.0 billion of transactions in the real estate and mortgage sectors. Prior to RM Capital, he was Co-Founder and Co-Head of Distressed Commercial Mortgage Principal Investments at HCP Real Estate, an affiliate of Harbinger Capital Partners, a multibillion dollar hedge fund. At HCP Real Estate, Marc co-managed the commercial real estate debt portfolio and originated both primary and secondary market transactions.

 

Prior to HCP, Marc held executive and investment banking positions with Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns, a publicly traded GE affiliate and Carlton Advisory Services, a real estate investment banking firm. Marc started his career as a commercial real estate loan officer with City Federal Savings Bank, one of the twenty largest savings banks in the country at the time.

 

Over the course of his career, Marc has been responsible for over $10 billion of advisory and principal transactions in the real estate and mortgage sectors and in excess of $20 billion of transactions overall, including corporate finance and M&A advisory. In August 2007, Marc completed a $1.51 billion financing of a portfolio of office buildings in Southern California, which closed immediately prior to the collapse of the capital markets during the Great Recession.

 

Marc holds an MBA and a Certificate in Corporate Governance from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a BS in Finance, summa cum laude, from Syracuse University where he was Valedictorian of the Whitman School of Management.
