Bio

Kevin Meeks is the Vice President within CBRE's Minneapolis Valuation and Advisory Services Group, where he brings 25 years of real property appraisal experience. He leads a team that specializes in litigation valuation assignments for purposes that include eminent domain takings, federal land acquisitions, title errors, tax appeal, construction defects, and divorce. In addition, Kevin provides appraisal and consulting services for financing, estate tax reporting, and presale/pre-purchase purposes. Property types appraised include vacant land, a well as improved commercial, industrial, multifamily & single-family residential, farms, and special purpose properties such as gravel pits, and high capacity wells.

Litigation appraisal assignments often deal with complex valuation issues that require detailed analysis, such as the effect that changes in access, diminished visibility, increased traffic exposure, reduced site size, permanent and temporary easements, and construction related interference can have on a property's market value. Kevin's approach to quantifying these types of issues in regard to their effect on a property's market value includes market extraction, economic analysis, and interviewing market participants.  This same skill set is also used in providing credible opinions of  value for non-litigation assignments.

In order to provide supporting testimony for his appraisal reports,  Kevin has been qualified as an expert witness in numerous counties throughout the State of Minnesota. In addition to real property appraisals, he also prepares Review Appraisals.

Prior to joining CBRE in 2016, Kevin was CEO of Meeks Appraisal & Consulting, Inc. in Minneapolis from 1998 to 2016.  The five person firm appraised residential and commercial properties. In addition to specializing in litigation appraisal assignments, a significant portion of the business was dedicated to preparing appraisals for financing purposes. Before starting Meeks Appraisal & Consulting, Kevin worked as a staff appraiser at two other appraisal companies beginning in 1992 under the supervision of MAI designated appraisers. In addition to his work as an appraiser, Kevin has been serving as a court appointed Commissioner for condemnation matters from 1998 to the present.

In addition to earning the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute, Kevin has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, with a major in Urban Studies.  Kevin holds the Certified General Real Property Appraiser's license with the State of Minnesota, and is a member of the Minneapolis Area, Minnesota, & National Associations of Realtors.
