Joseph E Rockey

Joseph E. Rockey is executive vice president and chief risk officer of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. In this role, he has responsibility for PNC's enterprise-wide independent risk management program, including credit, compliance, operational and market risk. Rockey joined PNC in 1999 as senior vice president and chief financial officer of PNC Secured Finance. He was named director of Strategic Planning in February 2001 with responsibility for managing PNC's strategic planning initiatives. In December 2001, Rockey assumed additional responsibility as managing PNC's Corporate Bank marketing team. In February 2003, Rockey was promoted to executive vice president of interdependent business activities. In that role, he led the execution of cross-business strategies designed to enhance customer service and client relationships across PNC's segments, products and markets. In 2004, Rockey was appointed manager of PNC's branch distribution where he was responsible for day-to-day operations, sales and service delivery of PNC's growing branch system. In 2005, he was asked to establish PNC's Private Client Group, which serves as the sales and service model focused on PNC's mass affluent customer segment. Concurrent with the management responsibilities listed above, Rockey was responsible for leading the integration of the United National (2003/2004), Riggs National (2004/2005) and Mercantile Bankshares (2006/2007) acquisitions. In 2007, he was selected to lead PNC's Commercial Banking business as well as PNC's Investor Real Estate program. In 2011, he joined the Risk Management organization to lead PNC's Basel program. Prior to being named to his current position, Rockey was responsible for Enterprise Risk Management and the Basel Office. Prior to joining PNC, Rockey was a director of Strategic Planning for three years for a manufacturing and distribution company. From 1986 to 1996, he was senior manager of Ernst & Young's Performance Improvement Consulting Practice and Audit Practice, primarily focusing on the financial services industry.Rockey is a member of the board of directors for Duquesne University and serves on the advisory board for the Little Sisters of the Poor. He formerly served as president and member of the board of directors for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh, Inc., and also is a past member of the board of directors for Oakland Catholic High School.Rockey has been a certified public accountant and certified information systems auditor, having earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Duquesne University.
