Jorge Herrera

When Jorge Herrera moved to the U.S. from Ecuador in 1984 as an architecture student, little did he know that he would discover his passion – and his career – through a part-time hotel job. Today, Jorge serves as Director of Operations for True North Hotel Group and oversees the company’s network of housekeeping, engineering and food and beverage teams. Specifically, he coaches and supports staff members through ongoing education; schedules preventative maintenance for all True North hotels as needed; and travels to assist new properties through openings. Jorge first met True North Hotel Group Founder Lew Wiens while serving as Maintenance Manager, then Operations Manager, during a 12-year period at an RHW-managed Residence Inn property in Kansas City. In 2000, Lew wisely recruited Jorge to True North Hotel Group as the company’s Director of Operations. Jorge holds six significant awards from Marriott International, True North Hotel Group and RHW, all which recognize his ability to successfully motivate and manage teams that comprise the largest single category of employees within the lodging industry. He holds certifications in CPR and from the EPA; is pool operator- and OSHA-certified; is certified through the Hotel & Lodging Association as an Engineering Hotel Operator; and is ServSafe®-certified through the American Restaurant Association.
