Bio
Jon Epstein has held the position of Principal since joining Avison Young in 2012. He specializes in the sale and disposition of investment properties and is a veteran real estate professional with more than 34 years of management experience in acquisition, development and asset management. Mr. Epstein plays an important role within the Tri-State Investment Sales Team as one of the members of the Institutional Sales Group, which provides not only sales expertise, but advisory roles in structuring sales, long-term leases, and joint ventures of various real estate transactions. Mr. Epstein is a trained architect, holding both a Bachelor of Architecture degree, and an MBA from Cornell University
He has an extensive background in property development, as well as experience with project financing, enables him to provide complex financial analysis and technical support to investment transactions. Assignments with which he has been involved cover a diverse range of property types, including those suitable for value-add and ground-up development, and property conversion for residential and mixed-use projects. Mr. Epstein has also structured complex long-term ground leases for institutional and private clients. He frequently contributes his notable expertise as a consultant and advisor to non-profit organizations serving various constituents as well as other private and institutional property owners.
Mr. Epstein has formerly held the position of Executive Vice-President with Grubb & Ellis' New York Capital Markets Team and a Senior Director at Cushman & Wakefield's New York Middle Markets Group before joining Avison Young. His respective teams were cumulatively responsible for completing over 250 sales valued at over $6.0 billion. During his tenure at Avison Young and Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Epstein has been the recipient of numerous awards including Largest Transaction Award, Best Case Study, Top 100 Producers, President's Million Dollar Producers and the award for highest-producing team in company history.
