John Maurer

John Maurer is a Senior Managing Director, Head of Portfolio Management where he is responsible for overseeing separate account portfolios. He also serves as Senior Portfolio Manager for the GWL U.S. Property Fund and Plus Strategies. He is a member of Sagard Real Estate’s Investment, DEI, ESG, Product Development & Strategy, Public Relations, and Risk Management Committees. John has worked in the real estate investment management business as a fiduciary for 35 years. He has deep experience with transactions, development, fundraising portfolio, and fund management experience, and since 1997 has been a fiduciary to institutional investors with respect to core and value-added strategies in open-end funds, separate accounts, and closed-end funds.

Prior to his role at Sagard Real Estate, John was former Senior Vice President and Head of Portfolio Management for Bell Partners. He was also the former Principal and Portfolio Manager for PGIM Real Estate and co-founded his own investment management firm. John is currently affiliated with the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries, Pension Real Estate Association, National Multifamily Housing Council, and the University of Wisconsin – Graaskamp Center Board of Advisors. John received his M.S. in Real Estate Appraisal from the University of Wisconsin and his B.A. in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics.
