Bio

Jim is a Strategic Partner at Jadian Capital and a member of the Fund's Investment Advisory Committee. From 2008 through 2016, Jim was a Managing Partner, member of the Real Estate Investment Committee and Chairman of the Risk Committee at Fir Tree. Jim and Andrew Fredman co-founded Fir Tree's real estate opportunity funds, which significantly outperformed their targeted returns during their tenure. Jim co-managed Fir Tree and was jointly responsible for building Fir Tree into a top global alternative investment firm. Jim led numerous activist efforts with Fir Tree's portfolio management teams, including the restructuring of FGIC, a large commercial and residential mortgage bond insurer. Prior to joining Fir Tree, Jim was a co-founder and Managing Partner of Black Diamond Capital Management, an investment management firm specializing in both performing and non-performing debt. Prior to Black Diamond, he was a senior member of Kidder, Peabody & Co. Inc.'s Structured Finance Group, where he managed a proprietary investment vehicle for both residential mortgage loans and non-mortgage assets. Jim began his career at Bear Stearns in the Asset Backed Securities Group, specializing in real estate finance. Jim is currently lead independent director of Starwood Real Estate Income Trust. He is also a Trustee for Team USA, the foundation for the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and numerous other non-profits. Jim received a B.S. in Economics from Boston College's School of Management in 1984, and is currently a member of the Board of Regents.
