Bio

Jeff Nickell is a Partner and Co-Founder of Davenport Partners. Since 2002, Jeff has participated in the acquisition, financing, renovation, operations and dispositions of all of the company’s properties. Jeff also serves as the CFO overseeing project financing, investor services and company administrative and accounting activities. Prior to the formation of Davenport Partners in 2002 he was a Vice President of Spieker Properties, responsible for property acquisition, development and operations in Los Angeles County. Spieker was merged into Equity Office Properties (NYSE: EOP) in July 2001.

Mr. Nickell began his career in real estate in 1983 as a Leasing Agent with the Trammell Crow Company. His responsibilities included leasing, construction supervision and property management for mixed-use, retail, office and industrial developments in Los Angeles County. In 1988, he was made Partner in the Trammell Crow Company. He opened the City of Industry office where he developed mixed-use and industrial projects, as well as oversaw the operations of 4.5 million square feet of industrial property in the City of Commerce.

From 1992 to 1997 he was principal at Wald Nickell Realty Advisors, a real estate group which provided asset management, receivership and advisory services to major lenders such as Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Union Bank of California and Prudential. Wald Nickell Realty Advisors completed over 250 assignments involving properties exceeding $600 million in value.

Mr. Nickell joined Spieker Properties, a publicly-traded real estate investment trust (NYSE: SPK), in April 1997 to initiate the Company’s operations in Los Angeles County. During Mr. Nickell’s tenure with Spieker Properties, the L.A. region grew to more than 2.5 million square feet of office space and 50 employees. Mr. Nickell also managed the development of the Arboretum Courtyard, a 132,000 square foot office project in Santa Monica, California.

Since co-founding Davenport Partners in 2002, Mr. Nickell and his partners have acquired a portfolio of office properties, some of which have been sold for significant profit to investors. Mr. Nickell has worked on the acquisition and operation and, where applicable, the sale of Mountain Grove Office Park, 80 S. Lake, Ontario Sixth Street Center, Nimitz Warehouse, Katella Corporate Center, 2601 Ocean Park, and 800 S. Barranca. Currently Mr. Nickell acts as the CFO for the company overseeing the company’s financing activities, investor services, administrative and accounting issues.

Active in numerous real estate organizations, Mr. Nickell serves on the Advisory Board of BOMA Los Angeles and previously served as Treasurer and an Executive Committee Member of the Board of Directors of BOMA Los Angeles. Jeff is a full member of ULI and also a member of LACRA. Mr. Nickell maintains an active California Broker’s license and retains an inactive CPA certificate. Mr. Nickell received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1983 and a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College in 1979. He is a life-long resident of Los Angeles County and lives in Whittier with his wife. They have two adult children. In Whittier, Jeff serves as Treasurer and Executive Committee member of the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greater Whittier. Jeff is also a member of the Rotary Club of Whittier where he served as President (2009/2010).
