Jay Maddox is a Principal in the West Los Angeles office specializing in Debt, JV Equity, Structured Capital, and Consulting & Advisory Services. Jay helps AY clients tackle major challenges including: completing mission critical transactions; resolving financial distress, litigation and/or bankruptcy; and addressing major short- and long-term strategic issues such as business succession or growth planning.

Mr. Maddox brings more than 30 years of commercial real estate financing and strategic advisory expertise to Avison Young. Prior to joining Avison Young, Jay led the successful restructuring of more than $2 billion of distressed commercial real estate as Managing Director of Kibel Green, Inc., a leading turnaround advisory firm based in Los Angeles. Previously, Mr. Maddox was instrumental in completing more than $5 billion of commercial real estate debt and equity transactions as a capital markets professional and finance executive with Citicorp, ARCS Commercial Mortgage (now PNC Real Estate), Gramercy Capital and Weyerhaeuser Mortgage. He has also served as a co-founder, strategic advisor and board member of several Internet and telecom technology start-up companies.

He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate and a regular speaker and panelist at real estate and legal industry events. Mr. Maddox has published a number of articles on real estate financing, including a monthly column on CP Executive (see https://www.cpexecutive.com/search/?q=jay%20maddox) Jay has previously testified as an expert witness on commercial real estate financing in both Federal and State court, and is a frequent moderator and panelists at real estate industry events. He is also cofounder and past President of ARIA!, a non-profit organization in support of the Los Angeles Opera.
