Bio
Jay Dowlen is a Senior Vice President with CBRE's Atlanta Tenant Representation Group, providing brokerage and consulting services to a wide variety of clients in the Atlanta area. Before entering the commercial real estate industry, Mr. Dowlen was a successful attorney, giving him a unique background and combination of talents that integrate transactional skills with analytical and advisory expertise.
During his career, Mr. Dowlen has provided real estate solutions for companies such as AG Edwards & Sons, America Online, Beecher Carlson, Connecture, Cogent Communications, Edelman Worldwide, Georgia Railway Consultants, International Education Corporation, Metromedia Fiber Network Services, PLI Brokerage, RaceTrac Petroleum and Waste Management.
Mr. Dowlen is a member of CBRE's Law Firm Practice Group, which specializes in monitoring and understanding the real estate needs of the law firm industry. He has recently completed more than 60,000 square feet of law firm transactions, including renewal/relocations for Gray, Rust, St. Amand, Moffett & Brieske; The Weathington Firm; Cochran, Cherry, Givens, Smith & Sishrunk; Pope & Howard; Hanks Brookes; Harris & Penn; Crowley & Clarida; Keegan Federal & Associates; Barrickman, Allred & Young; Thomas, Kayden, Horstemeyer & Risley; Rogers & Goldberg; and Ragland & Jones.
Mr. Dowlen was formerly a Managing Director with Insignia/ESG, prior to that firm's merger with CBRE. Before joining Insignia/ESG, Mr. Dowlen was a broker with Cushman & Wakefield. Before that, he was an attorney with Garland Samuel & Loeb. Mr. Dowlen's legal career also included positions with the District Attorney's office, and clerkships with the Supreme Court of Georgia and Martin Snow Grant & Napier.
Mr. Dowlen earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, and then graduated from the Mercer University School of Law, where he was a member of the Intrastate and National Moot Court teams. He is active in the University of Georgia alumni programs, and served as the Chairman of the 10th Year UGA School Reunion of his graduating class and was past Chairman of The Marist School's annual Alumni Golf Tournament. Mr. Dowlen is a member of Christ the King Cathedral, remains active with Ignatius House Retreat Center in Atlanta and coaches basketball and baseball during his free time. He is married and has two children.
