Bio
James A. Fischer, P.E., C.D.P., oversees all aspects of the planning and design of New England Development’s retail and mixed-use properties, including regional centers, outlet centers, street-front retail, neighborhood centers, and office buildings. He works extensively with the leasing, development and operations departments on existing and future properties and redevelopment projects. Specific responsibilities include envisioning the design and development goals for each project, site planning, consultant selection, pricing, and ensuring that each project’s design intent is carried through construction and completion. Prior to joining New England Development in 2005, Mr. Fischer worked as a Project Manager at Packard Development for two years and at Rizzo Associates for 11 years. While at Rizzo Associates, he was in charge of the regional engineering group for a national home improvement retailer. In addition, he was responsible for the design of a diverse collection of retail, residential, office and hospitality properties. A Registered Professional Engineer, Mr. Fischer is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers where he has achieved the designation as Certified Design Professional. He has a Bachelor's degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Architectural Engineering and has taken numerous continuing education courses at Northeastern University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard and International Council of Shopping Centers. He is an active mentor, having worked with and guided over 75 local college students from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, as well as other Boston and national colleges and universities.
