Bio
Mr. Cope is responsible for running our Capital Markets business unit, placing capital for income-producing properties, including office, apartments, hotels, industrial, and retail nationwide, as well as running the day-to-day operations of the Capital Markets teams based in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois. He has completed over 600 transactions throughout his career with more than 100 different capital sources including over 50 different life insurance companies.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Cope served as senior vice president of Grandbridge Real Estate Capital where he specialized in originating and structuring commercial real estate financing for all property types. Before Grandbridge, Mr. Cope served as managing director with Collateral for five years. Previously, Mr. Cope was a director with L.J. Melody & Company where he helped assisted in the management of a regional production office and originated and placed construction, bridge, mezzanine and permanent loans and equity for clients across the country. Earlier in his career, Mr. Cope spent 10 years with Eberhardt Company, where he was responsible for all aspects of real estate origination, placement and closing of debt and equity transactions as well as management of the office.
Mr. Cope holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and a Master of Science in real estate appraisal and investment analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Beyond the company, Mr. Cope is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association, Young Presidents Organization, and NAIOP.
