Hugh MacKay

Hugh MacKay joined Naftali Group in 2022 as the Vice President of Acquisitions and Counsel. In this role, Mr. MacKay works directly with the Chief Investment Officer to source, structure, and execute the firm’s acquisitions, developments, and loan originations on both the equity and debt platforms of Naftali Group. Mr. MacKay also manages Naftali Group’s underwriting team, supervises diligence on potential acquisitions, and coordinates project execution between all departments. Additionally, he serves as Naftali Group’s Counsel, responsible for successfully negotiating all documents in the transactional and financing departments and advising on all construction, marketing, zoning, and development matters. Prior to joining Naftali Group, Mr. MacKay was a senior associate in the Real Estate Group of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP, where he represented clients, including RXR, Brookfield, Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, Global Holdings, and Bentall GreenOak in a wide range of real estate matters, including acquisitions and dispositions, construction and permanent financings, joint ventures, secondary market debt acquisitions/dispositions, loan workouts, and bespoke development and property consulting agreements. Mr. MacKay received a BA in History from Columbia College, an MPhil in Classics from King’s College, University of Cambridge, and a JD from Columbia Law School.
