Bio

Mr. Cherry is a Founder and Managing Partner of FCA Partners. He is responsible for asset and portfolio management as well as assisting in the development of the firm’s strategic growth initiatives and investment strategies.

Mr. Cherry has over 30 years of commercial real estate experience. He was a Senior Managing Director in the Capital Advisors group at Faison & Associates, a Charlotte based real estate development and investment management firm and the predecessor firm of FCA Partners. The Capital Advisors group managed a $1 Billion discretionary separate account on behalf of a major state pension fund. The client and the Capital Advisors team spun out in February 2014 to form FCA Partners.

He began his real estate career in 1985 with Wachovia Real Estate Investments, one of the early real estate advisors to pension funds. At Wachovia, Mr. Cherry was involved in the acquisition, development, asset management, and disposition of commercial real estate on a national basis. Mr. Cherry was a Senior Vice President with the firm.

In 2000 Mr. Cherry joined Faison’s Capital Advisors Group working on the development, management and disposition of commercial and multifamily properties. In 2006, Mr. Cherry became the Managing Director of the Capital Advisors group.

Mr. Cherry has directed the development or redevelopment of over 2 Million SF of office, retail, and industrial real estate and over 2,300 multifamily units. He has managed assets valued in excess of $2.2 Billion.

Mr. Cherry received a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from North Carolina State University, a Master of Economics from North Carolina State University, and a Master of Science in Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. While at the University of Wisconsin, Mr. Cherry had the honor to be a teaching assistant to Professor James Grasskamp and was also an intern at the State of Wisconsin Investment Board. Mr. Cherry has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, NMHC, PREA, and has been an active member of numerous other industry trade organizations. Mr. Cherry is past Board President of St. Paul’s Preschool, past Commodore of Lake Norman Yacht Club, past board member of the South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association, and past chairperson of Boy Scout Troop 116 Eagle Scout Review Board.

He resides in Charlotte with his wife Kim and has two daughters and a son.
