Bio

David Weaver is head of Commercial Community Banking at Truist Financial Corporation, the nation's premier financial services company serving approximately 12 million households.Weaver is a member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for all aspects of commercial banking including business banking, commercial banking, middle market banking, and regional commercial real estate through Truist's unique Community Bank model. He is also responsible for commercial deposit and loan products, the advisory teams covering capital markets originations and corporate finance, as well as the specialty industry verticals covering dealer commercial services, senior care, government/not for profit, association services and government contracting.A 30-year veteran of the banking industry, Weaver began his career with Truist predecessor BB&T in 1995 serving as a business services officer and then city executive in Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2005, he was named regional president of BB&T's Triangle Region. In 2010, he was named Community Bank Group executive responsible for nine regions in six states: North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Pennsylvania. Weaver was named to BB&T's executive management team in 2016, and in 2017, he was named president of Community Banking. In December 2019, Weaver assumed his current position as head of Community Commercial Banking at Truist Financial Corporation, created through the merger of equals between BB&T Corporation and SunTrust Banks, Inc. Currently, Weaver serves as a board member of the Lineberger Cancer Center, Chapel Hill, N.C., is on the executive committee at Wake Forest University Center for Private Business and the Executive Committee of the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Dix Park Conservancy. He has served as advisory board of the Ronald McDonald House, a board member of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, trustee of Wake Education Partnership, board member of Communities in Schools of North Carolina, Wake County chairman of the United Way of the Greater Triangle, community board advisor for the Junior League of Raleigh, the advisory board for Five Points Capital, and class agent and alumni council member of Ravenscroft School.Weaver earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
