Bio

As Executive Vice President with Trammell Crow Company’s Southern California Business Unit in Newport Beach, California, David Drake is responsible for underwriting costs of development, securing entitlements and municipal approvals, budgeting, design and construction management. He has more than 35 years of experience as a developer, architect, project manager and general contractor. Dave has been responsible for over 11 million square feet of industrial development for Trammell Crow Company, including projects such as I-215 Logistics Center (Amazon Fulfillment), Columbia Business Park, Ontario Innovation Center (3M Company & Home Depot) and California Palms Business Center, among others. During his career, Dave has been responsible for over $2 billion of project value in the Southern California area. Projects completed under his management have included industrial, e-commerce facilities, manufacturing, mid-rise office buildings, medical, laboratories, food processing, cold storage facilities, rail service distribution centers, tenant improvements and infrastructure construction. As an architect and contractor, Dave provides the client with valuable insights, such as space planning and the efficient integrating of building support systems including mechanical, electrical and data systems. Other areas of expertise include design team development, material handling, entitlements, project scheduling, cost control and client support for build-to-suit projects. He is known as an industrial specialist, often lending his expertise to others within the company. During Dave’s career, which was founded on his background as an architect for a major design-build firm, he has managed projects for Catellus Development on major commercial facilities and infrastructure, including Ontario Crossroads Industrial which included clients such as Pepsi Co, Longs Drug Stores, Dunlop Tires, Sweetheart Cups and LA Times. Other notable developments included CMD Industrial in Vernon, CA, Pacific Center in Santa Ana, CA and the Oakdale Office projects in Northridge, CA. While working with Cornerstone Projects, Dave worked on numerous specialized design-build projects including projects for Boeing, Home Depot, Lowes and public facilities. These projects drew not only on Dave’s expertise for entitlements and design, but on his background as a general contractor. Dave’s greatest talent is that of team leader, resolving challenges and making his clients’ requirements his top priority and creating solutions that exceed clients’ expectations.
