Bio
Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Colton Smith is a Senior Director within Walker & Dunlop's capital markets group. Mr. Smith has more than 15 years of commercial real estate finance experience and specializes in permanent financing for all asset classes, including hard money transactions, land acquisitions, and construction. In addition to sourcing debt financing for all commercial real estate asset classes nationally, Mr. Smith is responsible for expanding the firm's reach and capabilities within Salt Lake City and the greater Utah region. Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Smith was a First Vice President with Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation (MMCC), where he was responsible for securing commercial debt financing for an array of property types including multifamily, office and industrial, retail, seniors housing and hospitality. Throughout his time at MMCC, he built relationships with national, regional and local funding sources including, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, commercial banks, CMBS lenders, life insurance companies, private and public funds, and bridge lenders. Before joining MMCC, Mr. Smith founded the commercial lending division for a Salt Lake City real estate conglomerate. Mr. Smith is a graduate of the University of Utah, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in public relations. He also earned an MBA from the University of Denver with an emphasis in finance and real estate and construction management.
