Bio
Cliff Carnes, senior vice president and capital markets western region chief production officer joined Walker & Dunlop in November 2014 as part of the Johnson Capital acquisition. Mr. Carnes is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Walker & Dunlop’s capital markets.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Carnes served as president for two years at Johnson Capital. Mr. Carnes joined Johnson Capital in 2007 as senior vice president of operations and was promoted to chief operating officer prior to becoming president. Before Johnson Capital, Mr. Carnes was an activated reservist in the U.S. Navy with tours in Iraq and Camp Pendleton. Earlier in his career, Mr. Carnes held several positions in corporate finance and operations.
Mr. Carnes received his Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Southern California, and his MBA from the Keller School of Management.
Beyond the company, Mr. Carnes is a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council, the Mortgage Bankers Association, and the California Mortgage Bankers Association. Mr. Carnes previously served two terms on the board of the San Diego Rescue Mission and is a current board member of the Able-Disabled Advocacy non-profit in San Diego. In addition, he is a member of the Advisory Board for the USC Masters of Business for Veterans program.
