Bio

Chris Benjamin is president and chief executive officer of Alexander & Baldwin. An accomplished executive with extensive business and management experience, Benjamin also has a long track record of volunteering with and providing leadership to nonprofit organizations that support Hawaii’s community. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Governors for Nareit.

 

Executive leadership at A&B

Benjamin was appointed CEO on Jan. 1, 2016

President and chief operating officer overseeing real estate and agribusiness subsidiaries from June 2012 to Dec. 2015

President of A&B Land Group from Sep. 2011 to June 2012

Chief financial officer from Feb. 2004 to Sep. 2011

From March 2009 through March 2011, served as general manager of Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company

Joined A&B in 2001 as director, corporate development and planning, and promoted to vice president in 2003

Additional management experience

Before joining A&B, Benjamin held positions with General Motors Corporation, Sony Corporation, Booz Allen Hamilton and The Queen’s Health Systems. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.

A dedicated supporter of community organizations, Benjamin currently serves as the chair of Hale Kipa’s Capital Campaign and sits on the boards of directors or advisors of many groups, including:
