Highlights
Biography
Carter Lear joined Newmark in June 2021 as the Director of Private Capital Markets, tasked with leading commercial property investment sales for Sacramento and the California Central Valley.
A 15-year industry veteran, Lear began his career as a founding teammate establishing institutional agency leasing and blue-chip tenant representation for the Sacramento office of Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL). With the “Great Recession” slowing leasing activity, Lear moved into investments as a regional sponsor for Colony Capital where he led acquisition efforts for core+ assets in California and Arizona. The fund exhausted its local efforts, and Lear was hired by Boos Development to identify and secure merchant–build development sites for corporate expansion strategies across the eleven western states. Most recently, Lear came to Newmark from The Grupe Company where he was the executive in charge of acquisitions for the Grupe family portfolio and equity syndication partnerships. In the role he spent time qualifying and engaging development opportunities from inception through stability and refinancing or sale.
Lear is versed in ground-up development, fund investment strategy, master planning, and equity underwriting across industrial, multifamily, retail & office asset classes. He currently lives in the Land Park neighborhood of Sacramento with his wife, two children and dog – Leonard.
