Bio

As a Managing Director, Bob Prendergast leads activity for Capital Markets transactions in San Diego. Partnered with his sister Lynn LaChapelle, they lead the valuation, marketing and disposition of premier office, industrial, retail and life science properties.

 

With more than 30 years in commercial real estate and investment banking experience, Bob brings a national capital market’s perspective to San Diego. During his career, he has transacted over $5.0 billion in transaction value through acquisition, disposition and financing of office, industrial, medical office and R&D properties. One of the most notable transactions completed by Bob and Lynn was the sale of Paseo Del Mar for $148 million; achieving the highest pricing per square foot in San Diego County for an office property along with the recent sale of the San Diego Tech Center for greater than $255 million.

 

Prior to JLL, Bob was a shareholder and Director with Burnham Real Estate in San Diego. Bob’s career spans the finance, banking and brokerage communities. Bob was a Senior Director at CBRE Investors with an emphasis on institutional investments and joint ventures. While with CBRE Investors, Bob's responsibilities included acquiring institutional-quality commercial assets in California, Oregon and Washington. He originated and completed transactions for various domestic pension funds and international clients totaling over $125 million, including the acquisition of 70.5 acres of unentitled property on behalf of the Southern California Carpenters Pension Trust. Prior to CBRE Investors, Bob worked at Starwood Capital and Shimizu Development. As a Vice President of Acquisitions for Starwood, Bob traveled to Asia looking for portfolio debt opportunities that were instrumental in launching iStar Financial. As a Vice President for Shimizu Development, he was responsible for the management, restructuring and disposition of a $500 million portfolio of office buildings, hotels, retail and land developments in California, Arizona, Hawaii and Texas. ​

 

Bob holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado and is a licensed real estate sales person in California.
