Bill Burns

Bill Burns joined Garrett Development Corp in 2020 to help expand its national self-storage, real estate development and asset management platforms. Bill brings over two decades of real estate experience to GDC having spent the bulk of his career as a senior deal originator with iStar Financial, a specialty finance mortgage REIT. During his tenure, Bill was directly involved in the sourcing and asset management of more than $2 billion of real estate investments across all asset classes. Bill specializes in the origination, negotiation and underwriting of both debt and equity deals including first mortgage debt, mezzanine loans, preferred equity and sale lease-back transactions. Prior to iStar, Bill worked in the real estate groups of Deloitte and Touche and Goldman Sachs. Bill earned an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in Economics/Accounting from College of the Holy Cross. Bill also earned his CPA in the State of New York.
