Bio
As President, Partner of Residential Land Development, Ben Schmidt is responsible for the acquisition and development of raw land. Ben works with landowners to value their property based on the development potential and the risks of development. Ben collaborates with land planners, surveyors and engineers to create a land use plan that balances the value of the developed land with the risk of approval by the municipality. Ben works closely with each municipality and its’ staff to gain approval of the land use plan. Upon approval, the property may be sold in bulk or fully developed and sold to home builders or end users. Ben has over 20 years of experience acquiring, developing, building, and managing a variety of real estate, including residential, recreational, multifamily, senior, and commercial properties. He has developed thousands of housing units in the metro area, nearly 20 senior housing complexes throughout Minnesota and thousands of acres of recreational property in the woods and around the lakes of Minnesota. Ben holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree from the University of St. Thomas and a juris doctorate from Hamline University. Ben is a licensed attorney and real estate broker in the state of Minnesota.
