Bio
Since 2007, Akiva Kobre has served as the Head of Development and Construction for Fortis Property Group, LLC, overseeing the design, development, and construction of new ground-up and existing properties.Prior to his joining the firm, Mr. Kobre served as Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Touro University for 14 years. During his tenure at Touro, Mr. Kobre designed and constructed over 25 college campuses, including many significant and complex major new facilities for undergraduate and graduate education. These included four major medical school campuses, in addition to a wide range of high-tech, commercial, residential, and institutional facilities, throughout the United States as well as internationally in Russia, France, Israel and Italy. Mr. Kobre’ s extensive experience includes the re-development of a multi-facility 50-acre medical school campus within the largest military base on the Pacific rim. The redevelopment of a former military base poses unique and complex engineering, environmental, historical and regulatory challenges.Earlier, Mr. Kobre was a principle at the firm of M. Gordon Company, and served as a geologist for the Research Foundation for the City of New York, where he was responsible for geologic investigation and mapping of portions of New York State and New England. Mr. Kobre holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees both in Geology and Environmental Sciences. He taught geology for several years at the City University of New York and is a member of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, the Geological Society of America and other scientific and trade organizations.
