Prior to co-founding DB Capital Management, Mr. Adam Barzilay was a Partner at MJW Investments for 5 years and spearheaded the expansion of the company’s student housing portfolio from a few hundred beds to over 5,000, ranking the firm among the top 25 largest owners of student housing in the country. Before joining MJW Investments, Mr. Barzilay was a Senior Vice President for the project management, sales and construction for both the San Diego and Los Angeles Home Building Divisions. He sourced and led due diligence on over $150 million in new land investments throughout Southern California. Adam has an MDes in Real Estate Development from Harvard University and an MCP and BA in City Planning and Urban Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.

With a historical transaction volume in excess of one billion dollars, MJW Investments specializes in acquisition, development and asset management across a diverse portfolio. Our successful emphasis on revitalizing and repositioning multifamily and student housing properties has grown our current portfolio to nearly 1,000 multifamily units and 7,000 student housing beds across eight states. With a keen eye for property investments, Mark Weinstein established MJW Investments in 1983 with the purchase of a single, five-unit property. Through strategic investment decisions, MJW Investments grew into a full-service, vertically-integrated real estate company encompassing a wide range of expertise in acquisition, development, construction, financing, leasing and asset management.

Over the course of 35 years, MJW Investments has acquired over five million square feet of real estate investments and looks for locational advantages in markets that have high barriers to entry, a diverse employment base and strong demographics.

In 2007, MJW Investments expanded into the stable student housing market where experience in hospitality, customer service, innovative design and multi-use complexes brought success within the sector. Now, MJW Investments represents a diverse portfolio consisting of multifamily, student housing, retail, triple-net and ground leases with an estimated value in excess of $1BN.
