Abe Katz

With more than 22 years of commercial real estate experience, Abe Katz, Senior Managing Director, is responsible for loan origination of multifamily and commercial properties nationwide. Throughout his career, Mr. Katz has placed more than $20 billion in commercial real estate loans. Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Katz co-founded and served as managing partner of Deerwood Real Estate Capital (Deerwood). At Deerwood, Mr. Katz, along with his partner, David Rosenberg, ran the company and built Deerwood into a 25+ person company closing close to $10 billion in deal volume. Before Deerwood, Mr. Katz spent 15 years with Meridian Capital Group. After seven years with the firm, Mr. Katz was reassigned to the company’s New Jersey office, which he led through 2008. During his tenure, Mr. Katz was responsible for increasing the groups production from $160 million to more than $2 billion, expanding the office to more than 30 people, and oversaw the company’s Pennsylvania and Chicago markets. Beyond the company, Mr. Katz is a member of International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
