Portman Holdings
Atlanta, GA
Founded in 1953
For 62 years, Portman Holdings has been an innovator in the design and development of transformational hotel and office properties. We see opportunities where others see barriers.
Founded in 1957, we developed the first wholesale trade mart and the first integrated hotel in Downtown Atlanta, when most people and businesses were fleeing to the suburbs. That small trade mart expanded to over 7 million square feet and became the Americas Mart.
The firm grew into a fully-integrated development practice that has developed hotels, retail space, apartments, and office buildings around the world; including the New York Marriott Marquis Times Square, San Francisco’s Embarcadero Center, and Shanghai Centre. Throughout the years, the company has stayed true to the integral philosophies that have been part of the firm’s identity, that real estate should create value for its community, its owners and its investors; and that integrity of design and planning will result in buildings that are useful and timeless. Portman Holdings has a been a pioneer in developing urban environments that others saw as too great of a challenge. From Atlanta, to Times Square, to Shanghai, we developed iconic projects that reawakened once abandoned and blighted urban areas.
Today, Portman Holdings is an efficient, highly-skilled and well-rounded real estate development team with a specific focus on hospitality, office, and mixed-use projects in urban infill settings. The vertically integrated team commands a substantial global network and has a proven track record with the world’s top financial institutions.
A division of Portman Holdings, Portman Industrial’s primary focus is the development of modern logistics facilities in core markets serving the U.S. supply chain. The company will control well-located sites and develop speculative, build-to-suit, and COLD logistics facilities serving their markets
