Founded in 1998, Courtland Development is a regional development firm in Dallas. The firm offers both build-to-suit and pre-constructed spec buildings to their clients, with developments including industrial, office, retail and multi-family. Courtland also acts as managing partner for multiple mixed-use developments totaling in excess of 8 million square feet. Jon Napper is the Managing Partner of Courtland Development, L.C. and responsible for the company’s development operations. His current projects include DFW Inland Port and Mountain Creek Business Park on Interstate 20 in Dallas. During his thirty-six-year real estate career, Mr. Napper has developed more than 20 million square feet of industrial / distribution, office and retail projects. In 1998, Mr. Napper left Alliance Development Company in Fort Worth to form Courtland Development. Courtland is focused on developing industrial and office projects in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area. He partnered with Panattoni Development in January 2001 and became the Regional Partner for the State of Texas. During the Panattoni partnership, Mr. Napper developed and leased over a million square feet in Pinnacle Park, 2.5 million in Mountain Creek Business Park, and 1 million square feet in Northlake Business Center. Significant transactions include build-to-suit projects for Clorox, Bunge, Jack in the Box, American Leather, FedEx, Iron Mountain, Neiman Marcus, Strategic Partners, Niagara Bottling, Nestle Waters North America, and Atlas Copco. Also during the Panattoni partnership, Mr. Napper directed the development and leasing of Cedar Ridge Office complex that includes seven buildings totaling 160,000 square feet in Southlake, as well as over 460,000 square feet in four office building complex, Beltway 8 Corporate Center, in Houston. Office tenants include, Mariner Health Care, Hanover Compression, Walgreens, Mercer, Allstate Insurance, Fidelity, and Keller Williams.In 2007, the Panattoni and Courtland partnership ended. Since then, Mr. Napper has sold land and developed, leased and sold several buildings in Mt. Creek. In addition, he has expanded Mt. Creek Business Park to 1135 acres and six million square feet of industrial while selling land to Prologis, Trammell Crow Holdings and Liberty Property Trust. Mr. Napper, thru his Courtland Farms entity, currently owns 533 acres of residential land in Mt. Creek. From 1992 through 1998, Mr. Napper served as Senior Vice President of Development for Alliance Development Company, where he initiated and managed the speculative and build-to-suit development activities at Alliance-Texas for Ross Perot Jr. His responsibilities included development, leasing, construction and property management of speculative projects as well as those for specific corporate clients. A partial list of corporate clients Mr. Napper completed projects for at Alliance includes American Airlines, B.F. Goodrich Aerospace, Beverage Canners Inc., Eli Lilly, Exel Logistics, GWS Perlos, General Signal, James River, Johnson Wax, Magnetek, Marriott Distribution, Michaels Stores, Nestlé, Nokia Mobile Phones, Riddell Athletic Footwear and Zenith Electronics. Prior to joining Alliance Development Company, Mr. Napper provided marketing and development expertise on behalf of Champion Property Company, Centre Development and Lincoln Property Company, where he handled design and construction for large commercial projects throughout Dallas and other locations. Mr. Napper graduated from North Carolina State University in May 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Construction Management. He is a board member and past member of the Executive Committee for The Real Estate Council. He is currently on the Board of The Real Estate Council PAC Exec Committee. He is past President of North Texas Chapter of NAIOP. He is currently on the National Board of NAIOP and a member of NAIOP National Executive Committee where he chairs the Business Development Committee.
